Liverpool are weighing up a surprise move for Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes, amid interest from Manchester United, according to the Daily Express.
The Merseyside club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers, amid speculation that Pepe Reina could be sold, with Arsenal thought to be interested.
And Rodgers is reportedly ready to turn to Reina's Spanish international colleague Victor Valdes as his replacement.
Valdes is yet to sign a new Barcelona contract, and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the shot-stopper. Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping an eye on Valdes' contract talks at the Nou Camp.
But, a talkSPORT report with quotes from Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, insists that the Catalan giants are confident of keeping their goalkeeper at the club for many years to come.
Zubizarreta said: "He has not said to us that he would like to go. The negotiations are not broadcasted and have not been settled yet.
"We have spoken about general issues. It is hard to find another goalkeeper for Barcelona while we still have Victor."
Valdes is one of Barcelona's most successful keepers, having won five La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies in his ten years at the club.
And Tito Vilanvoa's side are on track for another league title this season - their victory over Malaga on Sunday means they are now 18 points ahead of third placed Real Madrid and 11 points clear of second placed Atletico Madrid.
