Liverpool boss confirms talks over £11.7m Brazilian playmaker

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the club are in talks with Inter Milan over the signing of Philippe Coutinho.
The 20-year-old Brazilian playmaker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks, with both the Reds and Southampton chasing the one-cap international’s signature.
And, it appeared that Liverpool had won the race for the player, with Goal.com reporting that an £11.7million fee for the former Vasco da Gama starlet’s signature had been agreed over the weekend.
However, Rodgers was keen to stress that a deal was from complete earlier today, with the Reds still in discussions with the Serie 'A' giants over a possible deal.
"There's been talks between the clubs but that's about it, so nothing to report," said the Liverpool boss.
His comments come in the wake of those from Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti, who believes that a move to the Premier League from the San Siro is a great option for the youngster.
"There are opportunities there to be seized. Sometimes certain players need the chance to play more. And that's why I think this could be a great opportunity for Coutinho, and a deal that could go very well for us too," he said last night.
Were Rodgers able to lure the player to Liverpool, Coutinho – who enjoyed a spell on loan at Espanyol last season - would join compatriot Lucas Leiva at Anfield
