Pep Guardiola is looking to sign a world-class striker when he takes over at Bayern Munich in the summer and he has two names in mind – Liverpool star Luis Suarez and Chelsea transfer target Radamel Falcao, according to the Daily Mirror.
The former-Barcelona boss is set to take over the reins at the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, and the report claims Suarez and Falcao are top of his shopping list.
Falcao has a £46m release clause in his contract, and has been a long-term target for Chelsea, while Reds frontman Suarez is valued at £40m. Of particular concern to Liverpool is the fact that Guardiola’s brother, Pere, is Suarez’s agent.
But the Uruguayan international only signed a new contract at Anfield last season, and the Merseyside club are confident they can ward off interest.
As for Falcao, the Colombian international isreportedly wanted by Chelsea, but the European champions are yet to move this month.
And Guardiola, who snubbed the Blues when he agreed to take over at the Bundesliga giants, could strike another blow to Roman Abramovich’s plans should he move first for the Atletico Madrid forward in the summer.
Speaking about Falcao last year when he was still Barcelona manager, Guardiola said: “ He’s a sensational player – the best striker inside the box.”
The report also claims Neymar is another option for the future Bayern Munich boss, but the Brazilian international is more likely to join Barcelona.
Still, Guardiola is reportedly keen to fufill his desire of managing in the Premier League one day, and the report claims his move to Germanyis good news for Manchester United fans.
Daily Mirror sources who have worked with the ex-Spain international insist that his ideal destination remains Old Trafford, but with Sir Alex Ferguson still in the hot-seat a move to United is not possible just yet.
