Valdes out, Reina in?

Could Pepe Reina be set for a dramatic return to boyhood club Barcelona in the summer?
With Victor Valdes having announced his intentions to leave the club at the end of his current contract, the 30-year-old goalkeeper may spark a merry-go-round of transfer activity.
This week, Valdes' agent released a statement to Spanish national news agency Efe"The agents of Victor Valdes have communicated to Barcelona in a meeting held this afternoon the irrevocable decision of the player not to renew his contract."
Valdes' contract expires at the end of next season and Barcelona will want to cash in on the player this summer to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of his current deal.
Reina's long-term Liverpool future has been in doubt for some time, and a return to his boyhood club seems to look more and more likely.
One individual that believes Reina would relish a switch to the Nou Camp is his father, ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Miguel Reina.
In an interview with Catalan radio station, La Xarxa, Reina senior stated: "I am absolutely convinced Pepe would be more than delighted to return to his Barcelona.
"I say it publicly, I would be delighted to see Pepe back at Barca, of course I would."
Reina senior believes Pepe would "be up for the task and the ideal keeper for FC Barcelona."
That's a view shared by many thanks largely to Reina's top-class distribution and having been brought up in Barcelona's famed La Masia academy.
The ease of which he would slot into the Catalan sides team would be seamless.
Liverpool's American owners, Fenway Sports Group, have given indications that they are keen to slash the wage bill and the 30-year-old, who is likely to be one of the club's top earners, could be deemed surplus to requirements.
The 19-year-old is seen by many to represent the future of English goalkeeping and it is no secret that FSG are more than prepared to invest in young talent with a high sell-on value.
