Mario Balotelli has been entertaining during his time in England, but he also has become a massive distraction in City’s title hopes.
With Balotelli off to Milan, City can really focus on retaining their Premier League crown.
Balotelli was a great player for City, but with that said he has had his problems. His recent bust-up with manager Roberto Mancini has drawn too much attention for the champions and appeared to be the final straw.
The Italian striker played an important role as City won the Premier League title, getting his only assist for of the campaign against QPR, setting up Sergio Aguero for the goal that snatched the title from under the noses of city rivals Manchester United.
But Balotelli will be remembered for what he did off the pitch, rather than on it. From swearing on live TV after City won the FA Cup, to letting off a firecracker in his toilet - the 22-year-old frontman has never been far from the back pages.
City will miss his great skill and the power he possess as a striker, but they won’t miss his crazy antics that led to them letting him go to Milan.
With Balotelli gone, Mancini may look to make a deadline day move for a new striker with David Villa being linked as a possible replacement.
At this stage of his career, a move back to Italy seems like the best solution for both clubs, and will help both parties going forward in the long run.
